Open door day 'De Brem'

September 5, 2004 - Our vet Filip Luyckx asked us to cooperate in a large open door day event of animal clinic De Brem. As some people have a negative image about mushing Filip thought it'd be especially nice if we were present with our Malamutes, amidst other activities such as agility demonstrations, doggy dancing and western horse riding.

Due to the fantastic wheather the day was a great success. Over 2000 people visited the clinic. But the temperature was way too high for our dogs: over 27 degrees Celsius. So what about a mushing demonstration? We decided to run a very short track of only a few hundred meters, enabling people at least to watch the hectic of the dogs being put in the team and experience a start and finish.

The crowd loved it. We received a lot of positively surprised reactions about the obvious enormous joy the dogs felt to run, in spite of the heat. And our furry friends? They gratefully accepted all the attention, hugs and their bowls with lot's of cold, fish-flavoured water!
