Nicolaustour
December 7, 2003 - We participated in a mushing weekend, organised by the German DSLT. The tour
took place in Butzbach, about a 4 hours drive away. We were there together with Patrick & Els
and kids, Heidi, Anita and Gijs & Anja.
We used our Landrover top tent for the first time and slept like babies (even though it was very cold this
weekend). The stake-out was primitive tough, with no electricity and no toilet or showers. Edmond
said the tour itself was well marked and beautiful: they ran 15 and 25 kilometers. I went for a
cani-cross tour with Chilaili and Arctica and could hardly walk the next day, haha.
Other than that it was a very nice weekend, with a 'Nicolausfeier' (Santa Claus party) on Saturday night.
After each mushing tour people could heat up around camp fires with some hot chocolate, gluhwein or pea soup.
We enjoy these weekends more and more. The only problem was that the batteries of the camera failed
because of the cold, so I could hardly take any pictures....
