The Great races

1st in Husky class!

April 10 and 11, 2004 - Edmond and Guy ran the Défi Picard: a 2 x 17 kilometer cart race, in the neighbourhod of Marcantère at the French west coast. Edmond had a team of three (Belukha, Spikey and Attila) and.... being the only Malamute team competing he unexpectedly became winner in the category for up to 4 huskies!

Perhaps Edmond will write a story about his experiences during that weekend, but I already wanted to report this achievement. At the first day they ran the 17 kilometers in 1 hour and 28 minutes, resulting in a preliminary 3rd position. The second day all the husky teams performed worse, whilst our Mals did even better that the day before: 1 hour and 26 minutes.

So Edmond was satisfied, never thought that they'd win the race. A nice way to conclude our first mushing season!

Unfortunately we don't have any pictures of the Défi Picard race (mushing and taking pictures at the same time is a little difficult. ;-)
