Cayuna's puppies born!

June 12, 2005 - This morning Cayuna gave birth to 6 little ones, 1 female and 5 males. We expected the delivery would take place no sooner than tomorrow or even the day after, but Cayuna decided she was fed up and wanted her old looks back a day earlier. As a result Mascha sadly wasn't around as she only returned from a weekend at the coast somewhere during the afternoon. Sharon was away as well, enjoying a cool event organised by her music group.

However Edmond and a very interested Sven did a great job supporting Cayuna and witnessed something special: the birth of a white Malamute. All-white Malamutes are rare (white is the only official one-coloured appearance for a Malamute). But things became even crazier; a second white puppy followed...

After five new-born canines Edmond carefully started clearing things up and washing some of the used cloths, as an X-ray made the week before showed 5 little skulls. Sven returned to his beautiful Sponge-Bob drawing and Cayuna was very quiet and seemed to fall asleep. Mission completed... Or not?! After a little over an hour both gentlemen lovingly checked on the new mother and her little ones and couldn't believe their eyes: there were THREE white puppies!! Against all expectations Cayuna gave birth to yet another puppy and it too was white...

Mummy Cayuna and the puppies have been checked on by our vet and all are in perfect health. Cayuna is very caring. The only thing is it would have been nice if the number of females and males had been balanced a little more. Oh well, (luckily) you just can't force nature. ;-)
